Our Chickens
The Side Step ISA Browns are a popular breed known for their excellent egg-laying capabilities and friendly, calm temperament. They are a hybrid breed, specifically developed for high productivity in egg production. These chickens are often raised in free-range environments, where they have access to outdoor spaces, allowing them to roam and forage for insects, plants, and seeds, which contributes to their overall health and well-being. At our farm, they have range of the full 80 acres and tend to be the first to greet visitors.
Isa Browns are medium-sized chickens, with a reddish-brown plumage and a robust constitution. They are hardy, adaptable, and thrive in various climates. Their free-range lifestyle typically results in eggs with richer yolks and better flavor compared to those produced by chickens kept in conventional caged systems.
Known for their prolific egg-laying, Isa Browns can produce over 300 eggs per year, making them one of the top egg producers in the chicken world. Their eggs are usually brown, with a strong, thick shell. In addition to their egg-laying abilities, they are also friendly and easy to handle, making them a great choice for both beginner or experienced chicken keepers.
